It's up at Brother's Lounge in Cleveland. Starts at noon, benefits Northern Ohio Breast Cancer Coalition, several bands I'm excited about.

Otherwise, not sure what the weekend will look like. Should clean the house some, get Halloween costume together. Maybe I'll go to PRS.

Try writing the fuckers. And grading them, and holding hands with students that have missed tests and not made them up until now, the last week of class. And all the time knowing that the next quarter starts a week after this one ends. And that adjustments have to be made to the curriculum before then.
Ech. So in spite of a generally wonderful life lately, I feel like I can't run fast enough. But then I often feel like I'm in slow motion.

The good news is that I get my three day weekends back. The bad news is that my classes begin at 9am, and my evening classes end around 10pm, Mon- Thur. Mon & Wed in Akron, I can go home for a bit between day and evening classes, but Tues & Thur, I'm pretty much stuck in Cleveland 9am-10pm.
Also means my weekday evenings are shot (no more Wednesday Squareoki, unless I want to pay big the next day).
But it makes weekend trips to Cinci feasible.

Sort of, anyway. My IBM StinkPad is refusing to talk to my neighbor's WiFi. Sooo... work access and Angel Falls access is what I'm stuck with at the moment. The StinkPad may decide to behave later- it sometimes takes its sweet time acknowledging the signal.
I really do like the StinkPad.
It has a nipple.

Carlynn's wedding was wonderful. Fantastic to see much of my family again (last time was for a cousin's wedding- I suggested we have an "unwedding", like an unbirthday, every year we don't have a wedding- my aunt reminded me they already have that- "It's called a reunion").
calialleykat and I even got to dance (at the urging of my cousins, no less!), and I'm pretty sure Dad snapped a picture of the two of us.
Still debating school/ career plans. This debate is growing more urgent- it might require a move, and
calialleykat and I have been talking about that- North or South, or out? Plus, it's about time for the next cycle of school recruitment for fall 2010. So far the career choices in the lead are pharmacist or physician's assistant. Feel free to share your thoughts about either. Radiology or ultrasound tech are on the list, too.
Party with Nauti this weekend. Maybe SMART next weekend, if I don't decide I Must See
calialleykat that weekend. Down to Cinci for Labor Day weekend to meet
calialleykat 's family. Back to Cinci Sept 23-29th-ish (interquarter break for me).
Tired. Maybe more later.

Happy birthday,

By 9:30, I'd gotten lesson plans for my sub (that's "substitute" in this instance) halfway typed up when the decrepit Mac I use at work crashed. There was copious swearing. At midnight it crashed again. Fortunately by this time I'd printed out my plans, though I still needed to print an attendance sheet.
And the chain on my prayer box snapped.
And my laptop is running slower than something very slow.
But the pulled pork from Old Carolina barbecue was fabulous.

Except this.

So much to get done this week. So little motivation to get off my tuchas to do it.
I think I made a good wedding gift decision for my sister, though.

Had a very cool night yesterday. For starters, got to see my friend Julie. We've been close friends and dance buddies for a while. During the last year I haven't seen much of her. Before I dropped out of belly dance classes, we went together, first to Andrea Love's classes, then to Leyla Soleil's classes.
The occasion was a belly dance recital put on by BOTH Leyla and Andrea. The two joined forces a few months ago when Leyla had studio difficulties, and Andrea had new baby boy. The show was very, very good. Andrea and Leyla had solos and group numbers (Leyla and Andrea's troupes have mostly merged, but there are students that are mostly Andrea's or mostly Leyla's). Kali's Fire had a pretty good gothic tribal number. Kali's leader, Shanrae, had a really good sword dance. Cassandra AlWarda and Angela Prato did what they do. They're both highly skilled, I just don't connect with either of them. There was a fantastic Bhangra number (someone was taping,
layla_aaron , so you might still get to see it!). LinZ had a really good jazz/tribal fusion number (her sub-sub-genre could be noire tribal!). Babette Soleil was depressingly good (how can she be so young, and so good?!). And a Lebanese line dance, led by *gasp* a guy!
And then there was Danielle MuadDib (apparently her grandmother's name, but spelled the same way as, well, you know). Enormous energy and stage presence. Betty Page hairdo and coloration. Wonderful performance. And she's a burley-girl. Who's done pinup shoots and plays the accordian.
Glee. Though I could skip the accordian part.
After party at Uncorked in downtown Akron. Got to chat with my former teachers, classmates, and Rachel Roberts was tending bar. And I got to talk to Danielle. Turns out she does Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art School in Cleveland. And wants to do more burlesque stuff. Big burlesque stuff. Full-show burlesque stuff. And she was happy to hear I'd been a performer. More glee! So now I've got a new burlesque contact, and some possibilities to think about...
Try to study under/ join forces with Danielle? I like that possibility. I'm not going back to RCB, I get along personally with Le Femme Mystique, but I don't think much of their choreograpy.
Try to study under Shanrae? She was fun to watch, but I can't say much for her troupe, which doesn't say much for her teaching, if, in fact, she teaches. And I need fundamentals before I go to tribal, though I like tribal, and I think my body is better suited to tribal than to other styles.
Return to Leyla and/or Andrea? I'd like to, and Julie would like to. Strong possibility.

bec76 ? Again, would like to, but she's got her plate more than full lately, so I don't know when that'd happen.
After that, Julie and a couple of her friends went with me to Square. Whiskey was drunk. Booty was shaken. Much fun, and it's been far too long since we've done that.
Then bed, and up early this morning for work.

Sort of, anyway. I'm feeling run down and blue, but restless at the same time.
I miss kitminx already, but I don't think that accounts for all of it, certainly not the aimless need to do something. I don't know what that something is. Doesn't matter much anyway, I'll be at work until 10, trying to keep my brain together.
It's like I need to ask a question, but I can't figure out how to phrase it, or even conceptually frame it.
